A new study from researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has found that exposure to acetaminophen in the womb may increase a child's risk for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or autism spectrum disorder.
They found that unborn children exposed to acetaminophen were 19% more likely to be on the autism spectrum and 21% more likely to show signs of ADHD.
The UCLA researchers show that taking acetaminophen during pregnancy is associated with a higher risk in children of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and hyperkinetic disorder.
